Tax Senior Associate

The Senior Income Tax Analyst will assist management in the annual preparation and review of income tax returns, compliance related processes, estimated tax payments, income tax accounting and federal/state tax credit program support. Additionally, the analyst will assist management with federal, state and local income tax audits with the ultimate goal of minimizing audit assessments. Also, the analyst will perform tax research and calculations related to employee benefits, compensation, employment tax and fringe benefit risks. The analyst will be responsible for keeping abreast of changing income tax laws and issues relative to our industry and organization.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Income Tax Compliance – Reviews annual income tax returns supporting workpapers and tax calculations for US federal, foreign and state jurisdiction filings. Reviews and prepares timely responses for all federal and state income tax notices
  • Estimated Tax Payments – Reviews quarterly estimated tax payments for federal and state purposes
  • Fixed Assets – Supervise and assist Analyst with ongoing fixed asset projects including compliance, cost segregation, state tax adjustments, and quarterly fixed asset projections
  • Monthly Tax Accounting - prepares quarterly tax provision schedules. Interfaces as needed with external auditors and other departments to communicate reserve activity
  • Federal, State, and Local Income Tax Audits - Handles tax audits (including scheduling, information responses and daily auditor contact). Negotiates audit issues with taxing authorities, working under the general supervision of the Tax Director
  • Income Tax Planning – Assists with the implementation and analysis of potential tax savings opportunities. Performs special research projects as required, maintains confidentiality, and communicates results effectively to management
  • Benefits and Compensation - Performs tax research and prepares communications related to employee benefits, compensation, employment tax, and fringe benefits issues. Works with other RSC departments (including Benefits, Compensation, Payroll, and Law), outside counsel, and outside plan administrators to ensure that plan documents, plan administration, and overall benefit policies are in compliance. Assists these same departments with special projects and questions as needed
  • Charitable –Prepares tax returns for the company’s charitable organization
  • Monthly/Quarterly Federal/State Tax Credit Reporting – works with external service providers to ensure monthly/quarterly recording of federal and state income tax credits to the general ledger. Liaison with operating companies for any questions regarding program administration

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • 4-7 years tax experience in public accounting or comparable industry experience
  • Knowledge of tax preparation and research software

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting
- CPA Certificate ​

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Masters of Tax
